Industrial

For general industry, we develop and produce cast pieces in all types of steel alloy. These industries are characterised by a demand for steel components designed with complexity in average series of between 100 and 50,000 pieces per year. British Castors cast pieces are developed in the United Kingdom and produced in our factories. Besides the production of cast pieces of approximately fist size, we can also cast larger components of up to 30 kg in steel.

For general industry, our engineers function as an extension of your organisation in the development of precision casting. By always considering whether things can be done ‘technically better, differently, cheaper and/or more simply’, we arrive at the best solution at competitive rates. We will be happy to share our technical casting knowledge with you in order to design an optimum cast piece. Together with you we will ensure that the design meets the functional requirements and can also be produced well and with stability in larger quantities. Furthermore, we can avoid unnecessary production steps by thinking smartly with you. This ensures that you get a good product at the lowest possible price.

Tools

For the professional tool industry, we develop and produce compact cast pieces with considerable functionality. This industry is characterised by the use of steel alloys with high tensile strength, hardness and elasticity. This not only makes these components highly durable, but also capable of withstanding shocks and high mechanical loads.

This processing is often relatively expensive because of the toughness and hardness of the steel alloy. Processing can also be avoided due to the high degree of dimensional accuracy that can be achieved in the process.

Hoisting & transportation

We develop cast pieces in which safety during use plays an important role. These components are used in both the horizontal (transport systems) and vertical (hoisting and lifting) movement of goods or persons. Usually, a steel alloy is chosen that has both high tensile strength and elasticity.
During the development of these safety components, we always perform a casting and solidification simulation. This facilitates the development of a high-quality product that can be cast robustly. With this approach our customers are assured of high-value cast pieces without technical imperfections.

Industrial components

British Castors produces a wide array of industrial components for various end clients. These components are used in the agricultural industry, energy market, locks industry and mining. Many different steel alloys are used in these markets because the cast pieces must often function in corrosive environments or are subject to huge temperature differences. Often, these products must be extremely hard, strong and/or light.

Aviation

British Castors produces various high-value cast pieces. This industry is characterised by extremely stringent requirements with respect to product quality, process stability and certification.

Products in the aviation industry are often heavily stressed. During take off, landing and flying, they are subject to substantial, often varying loads, and large temperature differences. With our years of experience in the aviation industry, we will be happy to assist you in the development and production of your cast pieces.

Medical industry

British Castors has years of experience in providing cast pieces for the medical industry. This concerns components for medical instruments or medical devices. This industry is characterised by the stringent requirements concerning product quality, surfaces and hygiene.

These components are generally cast in high-value steel alloys. Depending on the application, the selected steel alloy must also be able to withstand high temperatures during sterilisation or high loads during use.

Food & pharmaceutical industry

British Castors develops and produces a multiplicity of cast pieces for the food and pharmaceutical industry. For example, we cast pumps and transport wheels for the food industry, knife heads for the meat processing industry, and sensor housings and pump components for pharmaceutical applications.

Stainless steel is usually used in these markets because the cast pieces produced often operate in environments that can be corrosive, subject to high temperatures and that must comply with strict hygiene requirements, no corrosion takes place after cleaning. This ensures that the components comply with the strict hygiene requirements.
